Technology in Finance: Global Asset Manager

The Challenge – technology grads reneging on their offers

A global asset manager, based in London, needed to attract top technical talent to their technology grad-scheme later in the recruitment cycle after both the candidates they offered to subsequently reneged on their offers.

The Solution – use student headhunters to widen the talent pool

325 of our best student headhunters studying Computer Science, Engineering, Physics and Maths at 58 universities around the UK, were briefed on the company, scheme and ideal person specification. The headhunters identified their connections on campus who they felt had the skillset and personality to suit this scheme, and who otherwise would not have applied, recommending the company and scheme to them. They also used departmental and society connections to spread the message.

The Result – 3 hires made

The shortlisted candidates then went through the thorough assessment process with the asset manager. Despite there only originally being 2 places on the graduate scheme, such was the quality at the assessment centre, 3 offers were made and accepted. All the graduates are still with the company and we continue to supply talent to this grad scheme.
