The Opportunity – Business Development Director

  • Sanctuary Graduates is seeking an experienced B2B salesperson with strategic capability to head up the business development team in order to drive substantial growth in alignment with our punchy growth plans.
  • This is a huge opportunity to develop the sales strategy in a progressive, vibrant business, selling and marketing to hundreds of top employers and becoming further established in the early careers space.
  • Sanctuary Graduates have entered a planned rapid growth phase but we are conscious that, despite being well established, we are only just getting started in realising our potential in the market.
  • The role will develop quickly from lead generation, cold calling and delivering sales to targets, to building out a small product-specialised team and then moving into the role of Sales Director within 2 – 3 years.



  • Ownership of business development area, growing the function and team around you as we expand
    • Year 1: Working towards clear personal annual target selling key recruitment products and working with the MD to meet the Y1 growth targets across the business
      • Managing a team of 3
    • Year 1-2: Building a clear sales strategy to meet growth targets across all products and assemble a team specialising in selling each of our products
      • Managing a team of 5
    • Year 2-3: Assume Sales Director role, with accountability for and ownership of the sales strategy
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Identifying, qualifying, pitching and closing potential leads
    • Pitching to a variety of clients including formal tender processes
    • Working with the operations team to grow accounts to 6 figure clients annually
    • Writing and sending our marketing content and optimising this process
    • Creating pitch decks, content, digital assets to market to clients
    • Pitching to a variety of clients including formal tender processes
    • Learning and absorbing industry trends and insights, and using these to improve the business
    • Spotting opportunities for growth


Person Specification

  • Sales experience: Proven success in meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Strategic capability: Experience at building and implementing sales strategies
  • Growth mindset: Someone who will always look to improve our products, company perception and critical internal processes
  • Quick learner: Someone looking to quickly absorb the specialist knowledge around them to be able to sell our products in a short time frame
  • Future Leader: the desire and capability to become our sales director within 2-3 years
