What is the role? 

 

Aqua Consultant’s in-house engineering team, consisting of over 50 professionals spanning various engineering disciplines, boasts a proven track record of achieving results throughout the asset lifecycle. From asset planning to initial and final investment decisions, design and build delivery, and operational support, this dedicated team excels in service delivery. Guided by a robust risk and value design process and a commercial engineering ethos, they ensure that multi-capital outcomes are not only defined but also realized at every phase of the lifecycle. Presently, they are actively engaged in providing engineering services to numerous UK water companies, tier 1 design consultants, and design & build contractors.  

This role provides a unique opportunity to actively engage with clients, contractors, and third-party stakeholders daily. Your responsibilities will involve fostering effective communication channels and delivering optimal solutions and recommendations to meet the specific needs of Aqua consultancy’s clients. This dynamic position offers a fulfilling environment where you can contribute your expertise to make a meaningful impact in the industry.  

Key accountabilities include but are not limited to: 

  • The design and documentation of civil and structural components of the projects, including but not limited to, utility networks, buildings, civil infrastructure, and water treatment structures. 
  • Provide design and construction documentation as required by the project, including conducting site surveys and inspections. 
  • Carry out client liaison and coordination, including reporting of progress. 
  • Project management of the tasks and deliverables required as part of the design packages. 
  • Conduct technical inspections of structures, formations and other civil / structural elements as required. 
  • Assist project managers and site staff in evaluating 3rd party designs and construction methods. 
  • Development and promotion of environmental best practice. 
  • Attendance at stakeholder meetings & site visits. 
  • Attend design workshops. 
  • Desire and ability to work independently when needed.

Key Requirements include:  

  • A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (2.2 or above). 
  • Committed to becoming Chartered ICE and or CIWEM. 
  • Resilience and adaptability as well as being comfortable working in changing environments.   
  • Proficiency with Excel, Automated Design, GIS and Coding are beneficial.   
  • A genuine passion and a drive to forge a career within this industry.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with team members, clients, and stakeholders.  
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse problems and develop innovative and practical solutions. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute positively to project goals. 
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on industry trends and best practices. 
  • Ability to travel. This role operates as a hybrid working model and can be based at any of Aqua Consultant’s offices combined with working from client locations and home. You will be required to travel to different client offices 2 days a week with location specified as required (including Leeds and Bradford).
